You know when you wake up in the morning and you just can’t decide whether to wear spots or stripes…?
No, probably not, I’m sure that is most likely just me…. See, I love both prints so darn much, it’s often difficult to decide between the two. Pretty little polka dots are just so jolly and always bring a smile to my face. But then you can’t beat a classic stripe, can you? So smart, and so stylish. So what do I do when in doubt?
WEAR BOTH!
In my youth I was always a real stickler for the matchy-matchy vibe, and really struggled to wear anything I deemed as ‘clashing’. Then I got older and got told it was the law not to be matchy-matchy or some such bullcrap, so I spent about a decade doing everything I could to wear complete opposite shades of the colour wheel at all times, for fear of being deemed ‘so 2002’. It took me far longer than I care to admit to realise that, actually, I don’t give a damn what someone thinks about my choices of pairings. Some days now I’m all purple and lime green, others I’m wearing ALL THE RED ACCESSORIES, it really depends on my mood. One thing is for sure though, I don’t care for any sort of rule on what you can or can’t wear with what, hence how this equally spotty and stripey outfit was born.
Ironically, while I’m sporting contrasting prints here, they all come in spookily similar colour combos, so I’m not entirely sure which side of the fence I’m on here. Am I clashing? Am I matching? Do I care? Answer is no, I bloody loved this outfit either way.
Also ironic – clashing prints are actually all the rage right right now apparently, not that I know anything about ‘fashion’. So I’m both completely out of touch yet totally on trend all at the same time and completely by accident. Go me!

Hi Steph, I know how it is waking up and deciding what to wear! Polka dots are always a good choice and I like how you combined the stripes. The skirt is very pretty on you and with the cute boots and black top you are styling!
