Outfit: Boxing Day

Boxing Day 2

As I mentioned last week, this year I didn’t spend Christmas Day with my family, but Boxing Day instead. For the last few years, it’s been the day that my brother brings my nieces to visit and my Dad cooks a huge gammon roast, so it’s like a second Christmas Day of sorts, and we always look forward to it almost as much as the big day itself. And of course, for me that means another excuse to get over dressed!

This time I went with something a little more low key as I expected to spend a lot of time romping around with a 5 year old and an 8 year old. I bought this black and gold lace top from Oasis a few months back with the Christmas season in mind. I didn’t want to pair it with normal black or blue jeans as I felt it would be a little dark for a daytime occasion so I went for these red jeggings instead which I felt were a bit more festive. Finally, I decided to wear some completely inappropriate shoes simply because, well, because. You might well think that probably was fine, because it looks nice and sunny in these photos, right? Wrong. Around 4pm it started snowing, and by the time we left to stay at my sisters around midnight there was a very thick coating of the white stuff on the ground. Lucky I’d remembered to bring some flat boots for the next day, huh?!

It was a truly lovely day, catching up with the family and spending some time with my lovely nieces. Opening presents was a little chaotic, with 13 of us all in the room, plus the dog and two kittens, and I have no idea how we managed to get that many people around the table for dinner! It was definitely a squeeze, but we were together and that is all that counts. And really, isn’t that what Christmas is about?

Love,

Sig
