I’ve developed a bit of an obsession.
It all started with these:
Ollie got me these for Christmas from good old Dorothy Perkins and I was instantly enamoured with that soft, powder blue shade. I don’t know if it was because we were in the depths of December and I couldn’t really wear them yet, which of course makes them instantly irresistible, but I couldn’t stop thinking about them. They just said ‘Spring’ and ‘Sunshine’ to me, and just looking at them (and trotting around the house in them) made me smile inside.
So naturally, I started looking for things to wear them with, and it wasn’t long before I’d picked up this skirt in the ASOS January sale:
But that wasn’t much good to me, you see, because it was yet another item I wouldn’t be able to wear until it stopped raining! So I accidentally got this Superbia handbag at a flash sale at work, a rather lovely blazer from Choies and this cute little necklace from Primark too…..
And then this rather lovely cardigan, a bargain still available at Dorothy Perkins for just £16….
And lets not forget those printed trousers and pastel undies I told you about last month! But then came the piece de resistance. This:
Baby Blue. Polka Dots. 50’s style full skirt. SOLD! I found this sweet little Dolly & Dotty dress entirely by accident on Amazon for the amazingly low price of just £22. I use Amazon a lot for my vintage style frock fix as they stock a few of my favourite retro brands like Lindy Bop and Hell Bunny, and usually at heavily reduced prices, but this time there was no mention of a brand at all so I had no idea whether or not it would live up to expectations. I was fully expecting a low-quality-but-cute-looking dress to turn up in the post, so was thrilled to realise that what I’d gambled on was actually a very well made piece, made from an expensive feeling, heavy cotton that sticks out in all the right places! There was just no way this one was ever not going to be mine, and now it’s quickly replaced the green H&M midi as My Favourite Dress of All Time (shhhhh don’t tell it!) Even better, it’s Spring now, so it will probably be coming to an outfit post near you soon! Even better still, there are more Dolly & Dotty dresses hiding in the ‘Vintage’ section of Amazon for the eagle eyed out there, and they each come in about 6 billion colours. Try stopping me from acquiring a few more, I dare ya!
In the meantime, I’m happy with my baby blue beauties. Don’t worry, I won’t try and wear them all at once.
Maybe….!
P.S – there’s my scruffy garden again. We’ve actually mowed the lawn since then. Promise!
