I don’t know if I’ve mentioned it, but I like to ‘visit’ things that I want but can’t buy. Yes, I’m THAT weird. I know it probably seems like a risky idea, throwing yet more temptation my way by actually seeing the thing in real life. Touching it, stroking it, maybe even trying it on…. But it’s a bit of a relaxation technique for me. A bit like Holly Golightly visiting Tiffany’s when she has the mean reds. Holly feels like nothing bad could ever happen to you at Tiffany’s and I kind of get what she means. It’s escapism I suppose, picking up that amazing frock and holding it up against you, eyeing it up in the mirror and imagining what life would be like if you were the kind of person who wore clothes like that. The kind of person that has a walk-in wardrobe and attends lots of cocktail evenings and swans off on fancy holidays every other month, perhaps. It should be depressing really, but it actually makes me feel better, and I have a little list of ‘friends’ I like to stop by and see every now and then, particularly if I’ve been having a crappy day.
Last week I found the newest addition to that list….

This little beauty, the Nuhad dress from Ted Baker. If you’ve ever read more than one post here I’m pretty sure I don’t need to tell you why I love this dress so much (in case you haven’t, i’ll give you a hint. It’s the bow. LOOK AT THE BOW!!). I saw it online a few weeks ago and had managed to convince myself it probably wasn’t that nice in real life, but I was of course wrong, so very wrong, because it’s absolutely freaking beautiful, and it’s now my new BFF. I can actually completely see Holly wearing this dress, maybe even on one of her trips to Tiffany’s. I haven’t plucked up the courage to try it on yet, because I’m pretty certain it will make me feel just like Audrey Hepburn, and if there is one thing even better than a swishy princess skirt, it’s a dress that makes me feel like Audrey Hepburn, so I will have absolutely no choice but to sell some of my worldly possessions and buy it. I know, you’re now thinking, ‘Worldly possessions? Calm down, it’s only £179!’ But there is a slight problem. Look:
Yep, it also comes in red and pink. I can’t pick my favourite*, so I’d at least have to sell my phone and get all three. And it would be value for money too – nothing bad could ever happen to you while wearing this dress, I’m sure of it, and I think Holly would agree with me!
Love,
*Ok, I’ve picked my favourite now. It’s definitely the green one. And the red one. And also the pink one. Definitely.
