I’ve never really celebrated Valentine’s Day. Being born two days afterwards is the main factor – I always felt it would be a little mean to expect a boyfriend to splash out on lavish gifts twice in the same weekend! I’m just not really a hearts and flowers kind of girl anyway. That’s not to say I don’t like romance of course – I can cry at a wedding and gush over a surprise bouquet as well as the next girl. But being stubborn of heart as I am, I just don’t like the idea of feeling obliged to declare your undying love simply because everyone else is. That said, I do relish the opportunity to dress up, and the more kitsch the better, so despite my jaded opinion of the day itself, it has it’s uses, mainly that everyone starts bringing out super cute, girly accessories that are right up my street!
Now, while every blogger worth their salt is currently cooing over Louboutin’s Doracora range (and why wouldn’t they? It’s adorable!) I can’t help but feel like hearts for Valentine’s is a little, well, obvious. Must be that stubborn streak kicking in again. So I’m pleased as punch that several of my favourite designers have opted for something a little more fun and flirty this year in the form of lipstick kisses. Hmmm. Maybe I should have been more forceful about the whole presents on Valentine’s Day thing….
