Now, I don’t know about you, but I tend to plan my outfits from the feet up. I almost always start by choosing what shoes I want to wear then go from there. That’s exactly what I did last weekend on a Birthday weekend away in Liverpool. I’d made my decision when packing that I really wanted to wear these gorgeous Carvela ‘Assess’ Mary Janes, mainly because, well, they’re purple and we all know how I feel about purple. See, I felt like I needed to feel my best – I was super excited about the weekend away, don’t get me wrong, but the turning 33 part? Not so much. So I picked out a pair of shoes that I knew would be guaranteed to make me feel special, just in case the Birthday blues got to me and threatened to put a downer on any celebrations.
I needn’t have worried – an evening of flowers, fizz, cocktails and my favourite company had me beaming like the Cheshire Cat for a good few days. And the food. SO MUCH FOOD!! So much food, in fact, that this pencil skirt was not the best choice – it’s no accident that that clutch is strategically placed over my gut in all the photos! I was having too much fun to notice until these were taken though, so no regrets.
I did, however, regret the shoe choice a little bit. Not long after getting there I received my first Birthday gift. Quite possibly my favourite gift of all time. You’ll find out more about that in due course, but lets just say it would’ve been accompanying me to dinner that very night had I not opted to bring bright purple shoes. The perils of going with such a statement colour! Oh well, it will most definitely be getting plenty of wear in time to come – watch this space!
Love,
