So, I’m kinda rubbish at this blogging thing. Well, not the blogging bit exactly, I seem to be managing to keep up a regular posting schedule lately, and the content – well I guess I’ll let you be the judge of that! What I mean is, I really meant for this to be an online diary of sorts. I mean, not that I don’t love writing about dresses and shoes, but there comes a point when there is only so much you can say really. So I wanted to have a bit more variety in what I wrote about, and I also think it’s kinda cool to have some of your memories documented to look back on. Problem is though, that’s the part I’m failing miserably at – the documenting! I keep planning posts around fun things I’ve done but then getting caught up in the moment and forgetting to, well, document! I wake up the next day and realise I only have a handful of blurry iPhone shots as evidence and that just wouldn’t do now, would it? I realised though that collectively I might just have enough material to write a round up post, so panic not, you still get to hear about my incredibly exciting weekends, albeit in slightly reduced form. You lucky things!
So, without further ado, here’s what I got up to last weekend…
On Friday I skipped gleefully out of the office and straight to another of our new restaurant openings. Now, I realise it might seem I’m at these things all the time, but sadly that’s not the case, it just so happens a few of them have been in the local area lately so I’ve been taking advantage of one of the few perks of the job! This one in particular we were very much looking forward to because it is was our favourite of all of our brands, a Miller & Carter steak house. This is a little bonkers really, as I was basically vegetarian up until around 8 years ago, and even now I really don’t eat much red meat, but even I can’t help but salivate at the offerings here, including this monster new cut, the Tomahawk! The fizz was flowing freely and after a few glasses we got onto the subject of my new exploration of the world of Instagram – yes, after about a year of lurking I finally started posting! What began as an innocent attempt to take a suitably ‘grammable’ shot to do some gratuitous promotion of the Company became a bit… well, you can see from the pics below. It became a bit silly. I’m not sure whether or not I’m ‘cool’ enough for Instagram to be honest, but I’ve always been more of a fan of photos than status updates so I’ll stick it out for now and see how I get on. Not sure you’ll find me using #envyme any time soon (yes, it’s a real thing, go and have a look, it’s hilarious!!) but you can follow me here if you’re interested in seeing how I fare (I know, exciting stuff!!). This was also the night I failed miserably for the second time at getting an outfit shot of my Dune Sylver boots. I WILL succeed at some point!
On the Saturday we took the pooch out to the countryside for a nice long canal walk where she could sniff around the boats and chase geese to her heart’s content. We picked this walk especially for the doggy friendly pub so we could have a spot of lunch, and when I say ‘spot of’ lunch I mean enormous lunch, as this is where the famous Fleur De Lys pies used to be made. They sold the name off years ago, but they still make a mean pie, so it would be rude not to tuck into one really, wouldn’t it?
Later I had a date with a group of some of my oldest and dearest friends who I met in my youth working in bars. We’ve had this date in the diary since Christmas as it can be hard to get us all in the room at the same time these days with us scattered around the country with husbands and children and the like. We managed to stick to it, but what was meant to be a wild night on the town turned into a very giggly night in with copious amounts of wine and gossiping, which suited me just fine. I wore these red New Look ankle boots (these are a few years old now, but you can find a similar pair here). Once again, the outfit shots I planned to take got forgotten in a boozy blur, but it doesn’t really matter because you can probably guess, I wore them with stripes. Quelle surprise!
You’ve already seen Sunday’s shots of Bonnie in the daffodils, there are no pics of me, you’ll be glad to hear, because I was fighting off Saturday night’s hangover…
What was I saying in that post about being a grown up now…?
Love,
