Outfit: Breaking the Myth

I’ve alluded to this before, but I do like to keep it on the lowdown – so don’t go telling everyone, ok? This blog sometimes makes me feel like a bit of a fraud, particularly the outfit posts. Not because they aren’t genuine – I’m certainly not what you could class as one of those impossibly perfect bloggers with a new designer handbag to write about everyday. Even my best outfit shots are pretty mundane compared to those ladies! Every outfit I post on here is something I have definitely worn – sometimes not on the day in question, because I’m awful at remembering to take my camera anywhere and even worse at remembering to take outfit shots full stop. But I may have given some of you a false impression that my life is a never ending parade of skirts and heels, and (sadly) that just isn’t the case. I honestly don’t prance around dressed like a Disney princess everyday – as much as I’d like to – despite all the talking I do along the lines of, ‘Oh woe is me, how will I ever find a way to wear ALL of my beautiful pouffy skirts and 50’s style dresses? Life is so hard, wah!’

I think it comes down to this – I’m just not very good at casual dressing. It’s not that I don’t like it – there are plenty of ladies out there making day wear look AWESOME, like Amber here. Seriously, how does she make a plain old breton top and jeans look so darn polished?? I envy those girls, because I just don’t have the knack when it comes to putting together a really cool, sophisticated outfit revolving around basics. I throw on a jumper and jeans and it just looks like, well, a jumper and jeans, and certainly nothing special enough to write about. I am lucky in that I have a job that allows me to dress quite smartly, so I do get a lot of wear out of my skirts and dresses at work, but at the weekend, when I actually have the time to stop and photograph what I’m wearing, my outfits really aren’t very interesting. Right now this moment, for example, I’m wearing dark red jeggings and a loose black t-shirt – I’m pretty sure you don’t need to see that, and even if I bothered to photograph it, I’m not sure I could muster the words to say anything about it. In the interests of being honest though, I thought I should write an outfit post about what I really wear at the weekend so here it is!

Not exactly groundbreaking, is it? Although thanks to my lovely boy’s generous birthday gifts I do at least have a posh scarf and boots on! Any outfit where wellingtons are the talking piece is pretty dull though, lets face it! I said in my annual round up post that I was going to focus on upping my casual wear game, and clearly I’m failing, so must try harder. Help me ladies! Teach me your ways!

Anyway, as a reward for sitting through the dullest outfit post ever, please find below a compilation of action shots of Bonnie being ADORABLE:

You’re welcome.

Love,

Sig
