I’ve always been a fan of vintage fashion, particularly the 50s and early 60s styles. There is just something about a full skirt that appeals to my feminine side. And I’m not in any way saying I’d like to have been around back then – I very much like having a career and money of my own thanks – but there is something about the feel of the era that really appeals to me. People made more of an effort. Getting ‘dressed up’ wasn’t considered strange and no-one would bat an eyelid if you went to the supermarket in your brightest red lippy and a pair of heels. There is something I like about that, because you just don’t see people getting dolled up as much these days. I mean, I’m pretty sure I’d get tired of having to brush out my curls all the time, but still!
Yet, despite my love of all things glamorous I’ve never quite had the nerve to go full on ‘pin up’. There is just something that feels a little too costumey for me, and I’ve never been convinced I could pull it off! This is completely daft, of course, because I’ll quite happily go out dressed head to toe like a sailor, or even like a walking cliche (hello French girl stripes with a beret…) but a circle skirt with victory rolls and winged eyeliner is a step too far? Bonkers! Of course it doesn’t help that I’m a fickle minded being who also loves modern styles with equal passion! So for now this is about as close to rockabilly as I’m going to get!
It’s still nice to dip your toes in though, right?
Love,

Thanks so much! Always a bit of a risk putting stripes and spots together but I’m glad it worked!

Oh my gosh you look so precious in that outfit Steph! You are right, people made an effort going to the supermarket even. it is hard to go full rockabilly but you did great. The polka dot skirt is so so pretty on you and the top compliments it good along with the sandals and purse. Check out this lady in New Zealand, you will like her style! https://missflossypots.com/2018/05/20/outfit-of-the-day-purple-pink/ Have a great day Dear, Terri xo.
