Outfit: Winter Woes

Hey guys, did I ever mention that I hate Winter?

Yep, it’s going to be one of those posts where all I do is bitch and man about the weather and how much I miss all my nice shoes….

Apart from the fact that all the wet and grey and lack of sunlight makes me feel all sleepy and in a constant state of grumpiness, one of the worst things is that most of my wardrobe becomes defunct. In case you hadn’t noticed, I’m not great at sensible shopping. No matter how many times I tell myself I really don’t need another pretty, floral 50’s style frock or skirt, I still keep buying them. And I never, ever regret a single one of them! They don’t really lend themselves to Winter all that well though, unfortunately, so I spend a lot of the time trying to work out how the hell I’m going to get a decent amount of wear out of them!

This is where a great pair of over-the-knee boots comes in handy, and thankfully I scored the ultimate pair from Dune, previously seen here and here, a couple of years ago. Midi skirts can be tough to style in the Winter, with lots of shoe styles looking a little off with tights, and ankle boots sometimes looking a little clunky, but a slim fitting over-the knee style disappearing under the hem of the skirt is the perfect compromise for me – still smart and ladylike but without freezing to death!

Sadly, even the most perfect of boots won’t stop all those indoor iPhone shots from looking so rubbish – check out the amusing angle I seem to have managed to be captured in in that last photo?! It might be possible to still wear my summery clothes in the Winter, but it is near on impossible to get any decent photographic evidence, so unfortunately you’ll have to make do with these! Still, not long to go now till Spring!
