Told you there would be more polka dots, didn’t I!
Similarly to the last time I posted about them, this skirt is actually one I tend to wear in the Summer, but after getting some cold weather use out of the last one, I thought I’d do the same with this one too! It’s a firm favourite when it’s warm thanks to the lovely, silky fabric, which I wouldn’t have thought would lend itself well to a grey day, but I always feel happy, light and breezy in this skirt so I thought I might as well see if I could inject some of those care free vibes into a dreary April day. And it worked!
The addition of longer sleeves and tights made it instantly more appropriate for the good old English drizzle – being April it wasn’t exactly baltic but cool enough that legs on show wasn’t really an option, and my leather jacket was perfect to throw on top and keep out the wind. I went with ankle boots rather than shoes (because you know how I feel about shoes and tights…) but made sure to pick high heels, as flats can look a little frumpy with midi’s sometimes, particularly with tights. The obvious option would have been black, but to avoid looking too drab I chose these tan boots instead (last seen here in September, proving them perfect transitional footwear), matched with a tan belt.
It feels odd writing this post today, when the weather has been so glorious lately – isn’t it strange how you feel like you can’t remember what it was like having to lug a coat around everywhere as soon as the weather warms up?? I’m pleased I’ve managed to get some Winter wear out of my polka dots, but I can’t half wait to start wearing them in some Summery outfits! The way they’re truly meant to be worn! I was actually going to pack up all my boots today, but as I write this they are predicting some more heavy rain over the Bank Holiday, so maybe I better hang on to them just a little bit longer, just in case!
Here’s hoping I don’t need to wear them again for a while!
