Oh. Oh my. I think for once in my life I’ve been rendered speechless!
Oscar de la Renta is well known for designing stunning gowns, of course, and has been featured on my Fantasy Friday posts many a time, but I think this one is a hands down favourite. Much like the last time I featured one of their little, pink, full skirted frocks – which seem to be a particular specialty – this one bears more than an uncanny resemblance to the dress made famous in Sex and the City years ago, which seems like the perfect association for a dress like this to be honest. It’s described simply as a ‘cocktail dress’, which of course just means it’s considered appropriate for formal occasions, but I think more specifically, I can’t think of a more perfect dress for sipping Cosmo’s in a fancy bar while catching up with your girlfriends and flirting outrageously with the bartender! Of course, these days people don’t dress up this much to do such a thing – which I think is a crying shame, btw – but certainly in my fantasy life this is just what I’d be wearing!
One of my favourite things about this dress is that from the front, it’s a pretty simple dress. Sheer perfection in it’s simplicity, I must add, from that beautifully voluminous skirt to the expertly draped one shoulder style. But the real drama is all in the back:
Oh, that bow! Like a perfectly wrapped gift! We all know I love a big bow at the best of times, but this one is just stunning – brings a whole new meaning to the phrase ‘pretty in pink’ if you ask me!
Do you think if I wish hard enough I might be unwrapping this on my birthday?
Answer: Not in my wildest dreams, sadly! Still, I can but dream.
